If you’re living with chronic headaches or migraines, you don’t need another “just relax” suggestion. You need relief that actually makes sense for your body. People often tell me they felt welcomed and at ease the moment they walked in, and that matters because the nervous system has to feel safe before it lets go. Yes, Craniosacral Therapy, 90 minutes, can help many chronic tension headaches and some migraines, especially when neck strain, jaw tension, concussion history, or stress are part of the picture.

When headaches keep coming back, it’s usually not “just your head”
Chronic headaches and migraines can have a lot of moving parts. I’m not here to diagnose you, but I can tell you what I see all the time in Downtown Phoenix. Long desk hours tend to shorten the front of the neck and load the upper traps. Light-rail commuting and phone scrolling pull the head forward. And our heat makes dehydration easy, which can crank up muscle tightness and make headaches feel louder.
Tension-type headaches often ride on neck and scalp tightness. Migraines can be more complex, but many people notice they’re more frequent when their neck, jaw, and nervous system are already on edge. If your headaches spike after stressful weeks, after travel, or after a stretch of poor sleep, that’s information I can work with.
Quick self-check: If your headache often comes with a tight jaw, sore neck, or shoulder heaviness, craniosacral work is usually worth a real trial.
Why craniosacral therapy (90 minutes) can change the headache pattern
Craniosacral therapy is slow, light, and specific. That’s exactly why it’s helpful for certain headache and migraine patterns. When the nervous system is stuck in “on” mode, the neck and scalp don’t truly soften, even if you stretch. With craniosacral work, I use gentle holds and releases around the cranium, neck, jaw, and upper chest to reduce restriction and help your system downshift.
The 90-minute length matters. Short sessions can feel good, but longer time gives me room to assess how your neck and jaw are moving, follow what’s actually driving the tension, and then let your body rest long enough to lock in the shift. People describe leaving sessions feeling “rejuvenated and at peace, ” or that their stress feels like it got knocked out of their shoulders. That calmer baseline is often where headache frequency starts to change.
“I have never had so much relief from a massage for so many weeks following my appointment.”

What I’m actually doing during the session
You’ll rest fully clothed on the table. I start by checking in about your headache pattern, stress level, sleep, hydration, and any jaw or neck symptoms. Then I’ll assess gentle mobility through the neck and jaw and begin cranial holds and subtle releases. If it fits your session and you want it, I may incorporate supportive tools I’m known for in other work, like a peppermint scalp focus for head tension. I keep the pressure light and intentional, because for headache work, “deeper” is not always “better.”
Realistic expectations: some people feel an immediate downshift the day of, and others notice changes over the next few days. If headaches have been around for years, it often takes a few sessions to see what your body does consistently.
Is Craniosacral Therapy - 90 Min a good fit for your migraines?
This session tends to be a strong match if your headaches feel linked to neck strain, jaw clenching or TMJ tension, stress-triggered migraine patterns, or head pain that showed up after concussion or whiplash. If you’ve had massage before and loved the calming part but wished the relief lasted longer, the slower craniosacral pace is often the missing piece.
Usually a good fit: tension headaches, stress-loaded shoulders and neck, post-concussion head pressure, jaw-related headaches, nervous-system overload.
Not the right first step: sudden, severe “worst headache, ” headache with fever or neck stiffness, signs of stroke, or anything that feels like a medical emergency. Get medical care first, then come see me for supportive work once you’re cleared.
Why people in Phoenix keep coming back to me for headache relief
I’ve worked in Phoenix for 5 years, and I don’t rush the part that actually changes outcomes: listening. People mention that I “really listened to my needs, ” and that I take time to get to know what you’re dealing with, not just where it hurts today. That’s how I decide if craniosacral holds, jaw work, neck releases, or a calming scalp focus is the smartest use of your time.
“I come to Phoenix periodically. And I see Melissa every time I’m here.”

If you’re coming in from Tempe, Scottsdale, Glendale, Mesa, Chandler, or Paradise Valley, Downtown Phoenix is a straightforward drive. And if you’re staying near Roosevelt Row or the Convention Center, a craniosacral session can be a solid reset after a long day on your feet.
Want help deciding if this is your next step? Call or email me and tell me two things: how often the headaches hit, and what your neck and jaw feel like on a “bad” day. I’ll point you to the right session and timing.
